COSMETIC MEDICINE FOR MEN
Individualised care. Natural results. A discreet approach

More men are quietly exploring cosmetic medicine.  Not because they want to look different, but because they want to look less tired, less worn, or more like themselves again.

At ALLOR, we see men who value discretion, realism, and straight answers.  They want to understand what treatments actually do, how subtle the results will be, and whether anything will look obvious.  Many are unsure where to start, or whether they should start at all.

Our role is to provide clarity.  Cosmetic medicine can be confusing, particularly for men, and information is often fragmented, reductive, or presented without proper context.  We focus on explaining what treatments are designed to do, where their limitations lie, and how they interact with male facial structure and ageing.

Every consultation begins with a careful assessment and an open discussion about your concerns.  From there, we outline which options may be appropriate, why they may be considered, and which approaches are unlikely to add value.  The aim is thoughtful, well-informed decision-making based on anatomy and evidence, rather than trends or assumptions.

A Calm, Discreet Environment

ALLOR CLinic Outside View

ALLOR is a Doctor-led cosmetic medicine clinic with a quiet, private setting.  Many men prefer an environment that is calm, discreet, and straightforward in its approach.

Men come to ALLOR for different reasons.  Some are looking to understand their options, others want an informed view about a specific concern.  In a lot of cases, the outcome is simply clarity about what is worth doing and what is not.

Consultations are structured to allow time for proper assessment, any questions, and clear, practical explanation.

How Men’s Faces Age

Men’s facial anatomy and ageing patterns are different from women’s and that difference matters when considering treatment.

Male faces typically have stronger muscles, heavier brows, thicker skin, and broader underlying bone structure.  Lines often form from repeated muscle movement rather than early volume loss.  Over time, firmness can reduce and facial support can weaken, leading to a tired or worn appearance.

Because of this, the main risks in men are:

  • Over-relaxing facial movement

  • Adding volume in areas that make the face more feminine

  • Softening features that should stay defined

Effective treatment in men depends on appropriate treatment selection rather than a standardised approach.

Botulinum Toxin for Men

Botulinum toxin is one of the most common treatments men ask about.  Used appropriately, it can soften strong frown lines, forehead lines, and crow’s feet while preserving natural expression.

Rather than aiming to eliminate movement entirely, treatment is planned to reduce harsh or fatigued expressions while maintaining animation.  Brow position, muscle strength, and facial balance are carefully assessed before any injections are considered.

Men often require different dosing and placement compared with women due to stronger muscle activity and different ageing patterns.  The aim is to look more rested and approachable, not frozen or flattened.

For many men, the best result is one that others cannot detect.  They simply look rested, refreshed and more youthful.

Dermal Filler and Collagen Support for Men

Some men notice that their face looks tired even when lines are minimal.  This is often related to gradual loss of firmness and support rather than wrinkles alone.

In these cases, targeted dermal fillers may be used conservatively to reinforce existing structure rather than reshape the face.  Placement is deliberate and restrained, with a focus on maintaining masculine contours and angles.

The aim is improved support and balance without obvious change.  Treatment is only considered where it is likely to add value and preserve natural facial structure.

Skin Quality and Overall Refresh

For many men, rejuvenation is less about lines or volume and more about how their skin looks and feels.

Concerns such as rough texture, visible pores, acne scarring and general loss of skin firmness are common, particularly in thicker male skin.  Treatments that support collagen production and improve overall skin quality, such as microneedling or collagen-stimulating treatments like Sculptra®, Radiesse® and Profhilo® may help improve texture, tone, and overall skin quality without altering facial shape.

These approaches are often chosen because they strengthen and improve the skin itself rather than creating visible change.  The aim is healthier, more resilient skin that looks clearer and more even, without obvious signs of intervention.

Skin Health and Skincare for Men

Skincare is often unfamiliar territory, with conflicting advice causing uncertainty around which products are useful or necessary.

Male skin is typically thicker, oilier and commonly develops changes such as rough texture, enlarged pores and uneven tone.  These changes tend to develop gradually and may be more noticeable with outdoor sun exposure or long periods without basic skincare.

Skincare does not need to be complicated.  The focus is on keeping skin healthy, comfortable and functioning well, rather than aiming for perfection or following complex routines.

During a consultation, we take time to discuss:

  • Current skin concerns such as dryness, roughness, breakouts, or redness

  • Simple, realistic skincare habits that can be maintained long term

  • Whether basic protection, including sunscreen, is appropriate given lifestyle and exposure

Where appropriate, simple adjustments or additions to an existing routine can be considered, rather than introducing complicated or time-consuming regimes.

Improving skin health is usually less about adding more products and more about choosing a small number of steps that are easy to maintain. Consistency matters far more than complexity.

Medical Concerns Men Often Don’t Talk About

Not all treatments at ALLOR are cosmetic.  Some men attend for medical concerns that affect daily life rather than appearance.

Chronic Migraine

"Although migraine is often recognised in women, it is underdiagnosed in men, resulting in suboptimal management and less participation of men in clinical trials."

(Vetvik KG, MacGregor EA. The Lancet Neurology. 2017;16(1):76–87.)

As a result, migraine in men is not always recognised as a medical condition with effective treatment options, despite its potential impact on work, concentration, and quality of life.

For men with chronic migraine, Botulinum Toxin (Botox®) may be an option.  This treatment aims to reduce the frequency and severity of migraine attacks rather than mask symptoms.

“Chronic migraine is defined as having headache on 15 or more days per month for more than three months, with at least eight of those days having migraine features.”
(The Migraine Trust)

Chronic migraine can significantly affect work, concentration, and quality of life, which is why careful assessment is essential.

Not all headaches are migraines, and Botulinum Toxin is only appropriate for specific migraine patterns.  A thorough medical history is taken, and treatment is considered only within established clinical guidelines.

For some men, addressing migraine can make a meaningful difference to daily functioning.  For others, further investigation, reassurance, or referral may be the most appropriate outcome.

Excessive Sweating (Hyperhidrosis)

“Hyperhidrosis is excessive sweating that is not necessarily related to heat or exercise.”

(Mayo Clinic)

This condition is another medical concern that can have a substantial impact on confidence, comfort and day-to-day life.  It commonly affects areas such as the underarms, hands, feet or face and is often unrelated to temperature or activity.

In suitable cases, Botulinum Toxin (Botox®) may be used to reduce excessive sweating by temporarily blocking the nerve signals that stimulate sweat glands.  The aim is improved comfort and practicality rather than cosmetic change.

As with migraine, careful assessment is important.  Not all sweating patterns are the same, and Botulinum Toxin treatment is only carried out when deemed appropriate and beneficial.

The ALLOR Philosophy

Our approach to men’s cosmetic medicine is conservative, individualised, and medically-grounded.

We focus on:

  • Careful assessment before treatment

  • Preserving masculine structure and expression

  • Choosing the simplest and most effective option(s)

  • Being clear when treatment is unnecessary

Not every concern requires intervention. Sometimes reassurance is the most valuable outcome.

A Thoughtful First Step

Cosmetic medicine for men does not need to be dramatic or obvious.  In many cases, effectiveness lies in subtlety rather than visibility.

An initial consultation at ALLOR is an opportunity to understand what is possible, what is unlikely to add value, and whether any intervention(s) are indicated.  There is no expectation that treatment is necessary, and no obligation to proceed.
